Description
Loperamide is an anti-diarrheal medication used to control sudden diarrhea, including traveler’s diarrhea. It works by slowing down the movement of the intestines, which helps reduce the number of bowel movements and makes stools less watery.
By improving stool consistency and reducing urgency, it helps relieve discomfort and restore normal bowel function. Loperamide is also used to decrease stool output in patients who have undergone an ileostomy.
This medication provides effective symptomatic relief but does not treat the underlying cause of infection.
